About Us

The Toegel Laboratory was formed in 2021 at Northern Michigan University.  We are located in the city of Marquette on the shores of Lake Superior in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The Laboratory is overseen by Drs. Forrest and Cory Toegel.

Dr. Cory Toegel received her Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Psychology with an emphasis in Behavior Analysis from West Virginia University. She also is a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at LEARN Behavioral, where she focused on providing behavioral services to children with autism and training caregivers to implement behavioral techniques. She is currently an Assistant Professor and teaches classes in the Psychological Science program. Dr. Toegel has broad interests in the Experimental Analysis of Behavior and Applied Behavior Analysis.

Dr. Forrest Toegel earned his B.A. in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 2014, his M.S. and Ph.D. from West Virginia University from 2014 to 2018, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine from 2019 until 2022. Dr. Toegel is an Assistant Professor of Psychological Science at Northern Michigan University. He teaches courses on topics related to research methods, radical behaviorism, applied behavior analysis, and the experimental analysis of behavior. His research focuses on understanding and addressing behavior that is often characterized as “problematic” such as drug addiction, relapse, and failures in self-control.
